Forestglen Seth the Background

Forestglen Seth – the background

Born in 2006 at the Forestglen Alpaca Stud in New South Wales, Australia, Forestglen Seth is the result of many years of intensive breeding by Maureen Carey in her efforts to breed fine fleeced, high quality fawn alpacas. The pedigree of his super fine genetics represents generations of selective breeding that has resulted in this spectacular solid medium fawn huacaya male, Forestglen Seth, we all know and love today.

But to get a full picture of why Forestglen Seth is regarded by many as being of such high quality, we need to look into the background of his wonderful pedigree and see just how his many positive fleece traits combined, through layer by layer of breeding, to achieve his world champion fleece status. You don’t produce an International Supreme Champion Huacaya Fleece by accident. It is the results of years of selective breeding.

Genetics from his father

Much of Forestglen Seth’s super fine genetics has been accumulated through generations of using superb stud males. His sire, Forestglen Maestro, was himself an outstanding male offspring from the legendary medium fawn Chilean imported male Purrumbete El Dorado. Famous for the quality of his own offspring, Purrumbete El Dorado was a key member of a stunning group of elite alpacas imported by the Purrumbete Stud in the 1990’s, which also included Forestglen Maestro’s grandparents on his mother’s side, being Purrumbete Highlander and Purrumbete True Perfection both highly acclaimed foundation members of the Australian alpaca herd. This is a lineage any alpaca male would be proud of representing.

Genetics from his mother

These superb genetics were further overlapped by the background breeding on Forestglen Seth’s mother’s side. His mother Forestglen Serendippity was another high quality dark fawn huacaya, this time sired by the well known and highly regarded Purumbete Inti. This outstanding male, who became an Australian legend himself, had a wonderful reputation for producing scores of show winning offspring, most of whom inherited his soft handling and luxurious coloured fleeces.
While his grandmother Forestglen Serenity came from an unbroken line of dark fawn females stretching back five generations to another Australian founder female, Forestglen Genevieve. Truly a remarkable lineage of dark fawn huacayas that provides the strong basis for Forestglen Seth’s coloured genetics.
